A BRITISH / AUSTRALIAN PATTERN 1879 (SAWBACK) ARTILLERY SWORD BAYONET MANUFACTURED BY RSAF ENFIELD AFTER 1880 USED BY BRITISH AND PRE FEDERATION AUSTRALIAN COLONIAL FORCES SPECIFICALLY THE ARTILLERY BATTERY OF THE NSW CONTINGENT TO THE SUDAN CAMPAIGN IN 1885. THIS BAYONET WAS PURCHASED FROM THE FAMILY OF LIEUTENANT COLONEL ALAN GILBERT THOMPSON ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ARTLLERY WHO ORIGINALLY OWNED IT.
